Assuming you mean Windows API, this is the website that helped me to learn it: http://www.relisoft.com/win32/index.htm

Win32 Dev-C++ Programming Tutorials?

Im learning C++ and Im using Dev-C++ and Im trying Win32 but all the online tutorials I find (along with the book I bought) mainly talk about C++ Console Programming and not the Win32 Window programming so can anyone give me some good links as I cant ever right a word in my window!

Win32 Dev-C++ Programming Tutorials?
Well, use Visual C++ Express for that anyway. It's much better and it has an editor and such. At least untill you get a better understanding of how everything works.

You really don't need a tutorial on Windows programming, because to do it you should have enough knowledge of console programming just to read the MSDN site and pick up what you need.
Reply:Dev, by itself helps you to get started. Open Dev up, goto file, create new project, and then select create new windows application. That will give you a bare-bones, ready to compile win32 app. A simple window without controls. To understand how to create controls (ie. buttons), follow the links below. It's not really that difficult to get started, only to master.

It involves using the "platform sdk". I've done it, so it does work.

Borland/CodeGear has their Turbo-C ++ ide available for free, and you can do Win32 and VCL programming.

Anyone know any good sites to find C++ tutorials that cover more then just the basic things?

Does anyone know a good site or sites to find tutorials for the C++ programming language? I've found a lot of sites but none of them go much farther then the very basics. A few of them have a couple random topics on more advanced things but not enough to really learn anything off of.

Anyone know any good sites to find C++ tutorials that cover more then just the basic things?
My suggestion is to get some books. Web sites aren't really suited to the long format that books are. It's really worth the money. If you are lucky you can find a library with them.

Some of the best authors are

Koenig %26amp; Moo

Herb Sutter

Scott Meyers

Bjarne Stroustrup

Andrei Alexandrescu - his book "Modern C++ Design" is a mind-bending template book. Seriously advanced stuff.

You can find excellent book reviews at accu.org. In fact you should check every book you buy through there. This way you skip the junk. Some books teach bad things and have negative value.
Reply:I would use Thinking in C++ V1 and V2. After that, I'd be looking at the C++ FAQs book.

There are good forums and mailing lists that have experts in C++. I'll go to those places to find answers to my questions after I fail to find answers from these books.

Thinking in C++ is worth a buy.

The first thing to learn as a programmer is how to find the information you want by searching the net. If you rely on answers from Y!Answers, your progress will be painfully slow.

C++ Tutorials?

Hey, well I've been programming in VB, and I only started it because it's an easy-to-learn language, and I was planning on jumping into C++ soon...(I know nothing about the language, but I know the basic concepts of programming). I've been looking for a good tutorial, but haven't found any, and I don't want any google-ed answers, since I've checked those sites before. Whoever has a good tutorial that they've used, it would be appreciated. Thanks.

You can use Bruce Eckel's Thinking in C++. It's a text book, not a tutorial, but it is pretty good. You can find it here:

There's another old book for C++ called "Type and learn C++ today". I don't know the author, and it's a pretty old print, but I'm sure you can find an e-book somewhere if you search for it.

C++ tutorials?

For the last little while, i have been really wanting to learn C++. Not only for my own recreation, but to help me with a future job.

first of all would you recommend C++ over any other languages like pascal, delphi, visual basic, etc.? Secondly, where can i find an EASY tutorial that slowly teaches you C++ and is easy to understand?

C++ tutorials?
Yes, I would recommend C++ without second thought. C++ is the only programming language that I know (I know HTML, CSS, and JavaScript; not programming as much) and I chose it from experienced programmer's recommendations. It's supposedly easier than Java, but more powerful than Visual Basic, which is not even considered a serious programming language. I would definitely learn C++, you can make a good career from that decision.

The tutorial that I'm using is "C++ for Dummies". It's good for beginners: not too quick, and the author speaks in plain english (not geek-speak). I would definitely recommend it.

Good luck!!! ;-)

Its well structured, and quite easy to understand. C++ is a difficult language though, but I would still definatly recommend it. In the future Java will suposedly be the dominant programming language, but it is very similar to C, so that wouldnt be a problem. I personally wouldnt recomend pascal or visual basic, they arent as fast, nor can you do as much with them as you can with C.

This tutorial claims to be able to teach you C++ in 21 days, but expect to do it in a couple of months, it takes a while to grasp the logic of programming.

Good luck!
